Typically, the provider usually offers some European cover in your touring caravan or campervan insurance; however, the amount of day’s coverage you get may differ. Providers typically state that you are protected in Europe for so many days out of the year and with some providers, you may get more days protection than with others for the same cost.
The insurance typically includes a stay in alternative accommodation if your campervan or caravan had to be repaired due to damage caused by an insured risk. Typically, you are given up to so much per day for a set period of time towards the costs.
New for old replacements
If you have a relatively new campervan or caravan, you may wish to check that you are given brand new replacement of your contents in the event they are destroyed, damaged, or stolen. New for old may also apply to your caravan or campervan if it is destroyed or stolen and it is under a certain age and meet other criteria.
Protection for your awnings
Awnings may cost a great deal to replace if you have to pay for the costs yourself. However these are typically protected in the average caravan and camping insurance. You may wish to check what they are actually protected for in the policy. The insurance provider may or may not payout if your awning is damaged or destroyed during a storm. There is also typically a limit as to how much the provider pays out towards replacing a damaged awning, so you may wish to check this also.
