Your motorhome insurance cover may be exceptionally important to you if you ever have a problem and need to make a claim.
If that happens, that won’t be the time to suddenly discover that your cover isn’t quite what you hoped it was!
Cover and options change
There are a number of things that you may wish to consider about your current motorhome insurance cover:
- is it still cost-effective in terms of its pricing;
- is its cover still commensurate with your requirements;
- does the cover it provides stand comparison with what other policies on the market are now offering;
- is it offering the same flexibility as other policies.
Price is, of course, always going to be an important factor but it might be prudent to balance that against what you’re getting for your money.
Having the world’s cheapest policy may not be of much consolation if it doesn’t cover aspects of your claim following an accident.
Variations
Typically, motorhome insurance will provide certain core components of cover that may be broadly similar between insurance providers (though it may pay to check).
These may include things such as protection against third-party claims and vehicle theft etc.
By contrast, the cover available may vary in areas such as:
- new-for-old or market value replacement of contents;
- emergency accommodation provision;
- cover for awnings and external fittings;
- minimum driver ages;
- the use of the motorhome for the purposes of commuting;
- the cover provided for use outside of the UK.
Pausing for reflection
As your policy renewal time approaches, it may be all too easy to take the easy path and simply stay with what you know.
That may be a missed opportunity though because reviewing your motorhome insurance cover may result in either lower prices or better cover – in fact possibly both!
