Here are some of the many features and benefits you may find in the average static caravan insurance policy and which you may want to check are included in any policy you choose.
- The exterior and shell of your static caravan may be covered in the insurance policy. Usually the exterior is covered against such as damage by fire, lightning, flooding, subsidence, falling trees, branches and vandalism. If you have installed a patio around your caravan, you may want to check to find out if the insurance policy extends to protecting these too. However, you do need to check the exact details with your insurance provider to find out what the policy covers.
- The contents of your caravan are also protected under your insurance policy. This generally extends to such as the contents of your freezer, your personal possessions and perhaps electrical equipment such as your TV and DVD player.
- Check in the small print to find out if the policy covers your TV or satellite masts, sometimes these are covered for damage as the result of storm damage.
- You may also want to check in the terms and conditions to find out if your policy covers accidental damage. This might for example be any glass in TV screens, mirrors, toilet cistern or ceramic hobs.
- Also, check if the windscreen part of the policy includes your windows and skylights. You may also want to find out if you have to pay extra excess on these.
- Liability and personal accident insurance may come in with the standard static caravan insurance policy. This means you may be able to claim if someone were to get hurt or even die through your fault. Accident insurance may payout if you or a member of your family got hurt while you were on holiday in the caravan.
